New EFC Chiller with Natural Refrigerant R290

The EFC recirculating chiller uses natural R290 refrigerant with similar performance specs compared to traditional HFC cooling systems

Laird Thermal Systems has unveiled its new EFC Chiller Series, an eco-friendly recirculating chiller utilizing natural refrigerant R290. The high-performance chiller boasts zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP), making it compliant with future global refrigerant regulations. The EFC chiller on a white background

Key Features:

  • Environmentally Conscious: Utilizes less than 100 grams of R290 refrigerant, ensuring suitability for air freight.
  • High-Performance Components: Includes a variable speed compressor for reduced noise and high coefficient of performance (COP), and a semi-closed hydraulic system to prevent evaporative losses and biological growth.
  • Precision Temperature Control: Offers a cooling capacity of 2,350 watts with an accuracy of ±0.1°C.
  • User-Friendly Design: Equipped with a touch screen display for easy setup and operation. Operates on universal input (200-240V, 50/60Hz) for global use.
  • Advanced Maintenance and Monitoring: Simplified maintenance and alarm monitoring system enhance uptime and reliability.

The EFC Chiller is ideal for various demanding applications, including analytical instrumentation, industrial, medical, semiconductor, and laser systems.

According to Greg Ducharme, Product Director at Laird Thermal Systems, the EFC Chiller delivers high performance and near-zero global warming potential at an economical price, aligning with the EU's move to ban fluorinated refrigerants by 2027 under the F-gas regulation. With nearly a decade of expertise in natural refrigerants, the EFC marks a significant milestone as Laird's first standard product using R290.
