Waters TA Instruments RS-DSC

Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) has introduced the TA Instruments™ Rapid Screening-Differential Scanning Calorimeter (RS-DSC) to the global market, specifically targeting biopharmaceutical developers. This advanced device offers high-throughput differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) for thermal stability testing of high-concentration biologic formulations, including antibody drugs and engineered proteins.

The TA Instruments RS-DSC is designed to address the growing demand for stability testing of high-concentration injectable drugs. Unlike traditional capillary DSCs, the RS-DSC enables up to 24 simultaneous measurements using disposable, low sample volume microfluidic chips (MFCs). This significantly reduces the need for sample dilution and repetitive instrument cleaning while lowering the risk of contamination.

Key features of the RS-DSC include:

  • High-throughput capability: Simultaneous testing of up to 24 samples.
  • Low sample volume: Uses microfluidic chips to handle small sample sizes efficiently.
  • Reduced contamination risk: Disposable chips eliminate the need for frequent cleaning.
  • Accurate data: Overcomes sensitivity challenges of differential scanning fluorescence (DSF) methods.
  • Advanced automation: State-of-the-art software provides rapid and precise thermodynamic property insights.

Jianqing Bennett, Senior Vice President of the TA Instruments Division at Waters Corporation, emphasizes that the RS-DSC is a reliable and accurate alternative to existing DSC and DSF technologies, tailored to meet the biopharmaceutical industry's needs for efficient and precise stability testing.
