ChemWare, a North Carolina-based Subchapter S corporation, was founded in 1987 and qualifies as a woman-owned small business under the Federal Acquisition Regulations Small Business Standard (FAR 48 CFR Part 19.001). The company has always been in the laboratory automation business, developing and supporting its flagship product, HORIZON® LIMS, since its first commercial release in 1991. ChemWare employs about 30 full-time professionals at its Raleigh, NC (USA) headquarters, with several additional telecommuters (primarily project management and sales staff) geographically dispersed throughout the U.S. All product development is performed at the Raleigh headquarters.
